Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph in the Showtime series Soul Food. At the age of seven through nine, she attended boarding schools in London. Her family moved to Toronto where she lived for most of her childhood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting would be her career. Dance was her passion for a decade. When she completed high school, she received a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed the Master of Arts in Theatre. She she also double-majored in sociology and psychology. Contractor, who had been a student for a year was invited to audition during an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the role. The 92 productions she performed received acclaim from Canadian reviewers. The actor was invited to join Stratford's conservatory, where the top eight men as well as four women can be accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks in classical theatre, which she was eager to take. Her place was guaranteed in the next season of shows She was also offered Hermia's character for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
